Woodcarving is an ancient activity where one use cutting tool held in the hand, producing a wooden figure or figurine. Woodcarving has been around just about as long as man has been upon this earth. Carving wood into sculpture is an activity older than civilization itself. Wood was amongst the first material used by prehistoric man as tools. Over the centuries woodcarving has undergone lots of changes but has never died. I think, as long as there is wood and there is man, there will be woodcarvings. Here now some of the most inspiring and adorable pieces of wood sculptures made by a Russian artist, Yuri Firsanov.

I love these two old Love Birds…They are cute….Beautifully carved…The mild tones of these sculptures go very well with the enderaing smiles on the faces of the old couple….Cradle, Imagination and Fisherman portray excellent imagination and creativity….The clocks on these three sculptures are very well placed….Thanks for this lovely post….
